Therapy

Hand therapists are trained to assess and treat the hand, wrist and upper limb. The hand can be assessed in a number of ways and information can be gathered about range of movement, function, sensation, swelling, dexterity, scar tissue, pain and strength.

Many different treatment modalities can be used and some of these are described below. All treatment is evaluated and adapted as the rehabilitation period continues. Therapy needs to continue at home and therefore therapists provide advice on home management programmes to ensure optimum recovery.
